Today, I am thrilled to announce that 21st Century Software has entered into an agreement with IBM® under which 21st Century Software has licensed the most recent source code for the z/VSE® operating system and middleware stack for IBM Z®.
21st Century Software recognizes that organizations using IBM z/VSE value their mission-critical data. The operating system is typically used by IBM Z clients whose environments require reliable and secure transactions and batch workloads. With the z/VSE Connectors, the operating system can be easily integrated in a hybrid IT environment and extended with colocation in a Linux® on IBM Z environment.
Acquiring the source code for z/VSE provides 21st Century Software the ability to create an enhanced experience for z/VSE customers, which are an important part of the IBM Z ecosystem.
“IBM is pleased that 21st Century Software has chosen to license the source code for the z/VSE operating system,” says Barry Baker, VP, Product Management, IBM Z and LinuxONE. “We are working closely with the team to enable continued value to our customers.”
The agreement with IBM provides a valid license for 21st Century Software, which will begin its enhancements from the most recent version of the code.
Moving forward, 21st Century Software has hired Gonzalo Muelas Serrano, an industry recognized z/VSE leader, to serve as Vice President – Center of Excellence Germany, leading the practice at 21st Century. He brings great experience and understanding of the z/VSE platform and customer needs.
We are also actively recruiting z/VSE and middleware stack team members. If you are interested in learning more about our open positions or have questions about this announcement, please reach out to Gonzalo Muelas Serrano or Lisa Klemens, VP, Go to Market Strategy for 21st Century Software or e-mail vse@21csw.com.
